Life and times, ii
Posted on 17:29 by simmo
Studying. For finals week, this week! Thankfully, Tech Writing ended with a super easy assignment--four-paragraph movie review. Jolly good thing, after our big recommendation report (group project) of the last two weeks.
Photo-taking. Daffodils and awesome windmills.
Reading. The Club of Queer Trades (G. K. Chesterton) and re-reading Heart of Darkness (Joseph Conrad). Chesterton was a genius with the sheer power of his word choice. Oh, and Heart of Darkness...I loved it the first time and this time around I know why--Conrad's writing, both style and substance, is pure gold. A good book is three-dimensional; Heart of Darkness is 4D.
Writing. Absolutely nothing at the moment. But I've got a trillion and one ideas in my head, for stories present and future. One of my characters is just begging to be written about, which is troublesome since there are two stories that come before hers.
Watching. Good Mythical Morning, The Virginian, season 3, and Miss Marple (Margaret Rutherford).
Thinking. About anonymity on the internet and how it affects the psychology of individuals and humanity as a whole. I've been thinking about this for several days, actually.
Weather-watching. Cold, sunny afternoons. Gothic rainy days. Snow, on and off...in fact, this month I drove in the snow for the first time. Luckily, it was 'ideal' snowing conditions--no ice on the road, just snow. Oh well, it was my big adventure for the week..
